I dont have a parking permit and it is in a residential area, which means restricted parking! HELP!! You can't, which means you need to get a permit or not drive to school. Prior to any student driving a car to Winston Churchill High School, the student's parent must fill out Montgomery County Public Schools form 215-6 "Parent Request for Student Use of Private Vehicle", sign it, and return it to the school. If it is approved, then $37.50 per semester must be paid. If the request is approved and the $37.50 is paid, then the school will assign you a space and give you a permit. If your parent has not given the request to the school or the school has not approved the request, then you are not allowed to drive to school. Auto parts : Punch Set Acura 1995 . Why is my engine almost stalling? 1999 Corolla with 159,000 miles. The car was running great until a few months ago. After a number of large snow storms where the car was covered in snow on the street (here in NYC), the car starting showing problems when either just coming out of idle/park, while coming to a stop, or when idling at a light. (If I put the car in park, the shuddering of the engine stops and returns to normal). It would feel as if the engine was about to stop and then it would resume normal function after reaching a higher speed, only to show stalling symptoms again while approaching a stop. When driving on the highway, the engine showed no problems, and operated quite well at a sustained speed of 65 mph. However, when climbing a relatively steep hill, the car could not reach speeds above 50 for the first 2/3 of the hill. In fact, it felt as if the car may completely stall at some points. Upon reaching a certain speed while still on the hill the stalling stopped, and the car again accelerated without any problems. What could this be? I'm on my way to the mechanics tomorrow and I would like to hear what you have to say. (I'm thinking is has something to do with the fuel pump and/or the O2 sensors. Thanks in advance for your help. car insurance. Auto parts : Radiator Drain Plug Dodge 2005. Radiator Fan Eagle 2006. Radiator Flush Kit Ford 2007. Radiator Hose Geo 2008. Radiator Mount GMC 2009. Geo . How to Change the Alternator on a CivicThe alternator in your Honda Civic helps extend the life of your battery by recharging the battery during use. If you alternator is faulty, your battery will not be able to hold a charge and your Civic will require constant jump-starts. Replacing the alternator in a Honda Civic is not difficult as long as you have the proper tools. Difficulty:Moderately Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Pliers Socket wrench set Torque wrench Replacement alternator Step by Step : 1 Make sure you have the radio unlock code for your Civic, if equipped with the anti-theft radio. Disconnect your negative battery cable and gather the tools required for the procedure. Make sure your workplace is safe and well-lit. 2 Remove the drive belt to better access the alternator. Remove the 4P connector from the alternator, and then remove the battery wiring module. 3 Use your socket wrench to remove the alternator bolts, and then slip the alternator away from its mount. 4 Mount the new alternator in its place. Use the torque wrench to tighten the bolts to 33 ft-lbs. This is the specific rating for the Honda Civic, do not disregard this. Not properly tightening the bolts could cause problems. 5 Attach the 4P connection and the battery wiring module. Replace the drive belt and reconnect the negative battery cable. 6 Make sure your radio and air conditioning are turned off, and then crank the engine. Rev the engine to 3,000 RPM with the vehicle in park. Hold it in this position under you hear the radiator fan turn on. 7 Take your foot off the accelerator and let the engine idle for five minutes. Set your clock and use your code to unlock your radio. Tips & Warnings If you don't have your unlock code, check on the upper inside panel of your glove box. If don't see it, contact your Honda dealer. This tutorial applies to Honda Civics equipped with the 1.7 L or 1.8 L engine (most Civics). Some models (such as the SI) are equipped with the 2.0 L engine. These models will require removal of the power steering pump to access the alternator.
Geo . How to Change an Alternator on a KIA OptimaThe KIA Optima uses a 12 volt charging system with an alternating generator and a frame-grounded starting battery. The alternator is a smaller unit with an internal voltage regulator. The bushings, windings and regulator may wear out and fail, requiring replacement. The average backyard mechanic can change the alternator in a KIA in about an hour. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Socket set Floor jack Lug wrench Screwdrivers Crowbar Step by Step : 1 Disconnect the battery's positive terminal bolt by turning it counterclockwise. Set it away from the terminal. 2 Jack up the Optima and remove the front passenger side wheel by turning the lug nuts counterclockwise using the lug wrench. Set the wheel and tire aside. 3 Remove or fold aside the wheel well cover by turning the small screws counterclockwise and gently pulling it from the retainer clips. This will give access to the engine. 4 Push on the belt tension pulley until the belt loosens, then pull the belt off of the alternator's pulley wheel. The belt can be left hanging in place. 5 Turn the alternator's bolts in a counterclockwise direction using the socket wrench. A smaller wrench head may be required for the tight space. 6 Pull the alternator free by wiggling it out of the mount. 7 Position the new alternator into the mount and secure the bolts that hold it in place. 8 Push on the belt tension pulley to give enough slack to wrap the belt around the alternator's pulley wheel. 9 Restore the wheel well cover by pushing it onto the clips and securing the screws. Step by Step : 10 Replace the wheel by tightening the lug nuts in a clockwise direction, alternating the pressure of opposing bolts. This sets the wheel better than tightening all of the nuts in a circle. Step by Step : 11 Lower the Optima onto the ground, and reconnect the battery. Tips & Warnings Purchase a high-output alternator when using many accessories. Do not change the alternator without disconnecting the battery. *10. Take a look at the inside of the drum. You can probably see grooves on the inner walls from wear. If these grooves look unusually deep, or if you see hard spots or burned places, ask your service facility to let you watch while they check out the drums with a micrometer (see Figure 18-5). If the drums aren't worn past legal tolerances (0.060 of an inch), they can be reground (or turned) rather than replaced. A special machine called a brake-lathe does this job in a relatively short amount of time. It shouldn't be a major job in terms of expense. You could do it yourself at a school auto shop; most classes have the machine. 834

These are much cheaper than new ones and should be just as good, if checking with a micrometer shows that they are not too worn. If your facility can't find you one, call a couple of places listed under "Automobiles-wrecking" in the Yellow Pages and ask for used drums in good condition for your vehicle's make, model, and year. .Chapter 18: Being a Buddy to Your Brakes and Bearings 37 7 Figure 18-5: Checking drum wear with a micrometer. Make sure that the drums look exactly the same as your old ones, and don't forget to specify drums for front or rear wheels. If they're leaky, consult a brake shop. • Brake shoes and linings: These should be evenly worn, with no bald spots or thin places. The brake lining should be at least Keinch from the steel part of the brake shoe or Ke inch from any rivet on brake shoes with rivets. The linings should be firmly bonded or riveted to the brake shoes. Most brakes give from 10,000 to 20,000 miles of wear. Some last even longer. If yours have been on your car for some time, they'll have grooves in them and may be somewhat glazed. Geo . How much will 80 mph in a 55mph zone cost im NY?

If your linings are worn, have them replaced at once. This job involves replacing the brake shoes with "new" ones that have new linings on them. Always replace brake shoes in sets (four shoes for two front or rear wheels is a set) for even performance. Replacing them all at once is even better. If your brake shoes need to be replaced, remember that almost all "new" brake shoes are really rebuilt ones. When your brake shoes are replaced, your old brake shoes are returned to a company that removes the old linings, attaches new ones, and resells the shoes. So it can't hurt to ask whether the core charge can be deducted from the price of the new shoes. 12. Take a look at the self-adjusting devices on your brakes. (Figures 18-7 through 18-9 show the most common self-adjusters.) Trace the cable from the anchor pin above the wheel cylinder, around the side of the backing plate, to the adjuster at the bottom of the plate. Is the cable hooked up? Does it feel tight? If your brake pedal manages to apply your brakes before it gets halfway down to the floor, the adjustment is probably just fine. If not, and if the cylinders, linings, shoes, and so on, are okay, the adjusting devices may be out of whack. Making a couple of forward and reverse stops should fix them. If this approach doesn't work, you may need an adjustment at a service station. Don't attempt to fiddle with these yourself.
